Beate Stindt Physiotherapist
Physiotherapy clinic, in the popular suburb of Mount Croix in the heart of Port Elizabeth
I (Beate Stindt) am a Physiotherapist with a special interest in musculoskeletal conditions (read low back pain, knee pain, or that pesky shoulder pain that just keeps coming back) and I work from The Hive, located at my home in Mount Croix.
I offer individualised assessment and treatment of all musculoskeletal and sport injuries. This includes acute injuries such as ankle sprains as well as lower back and neck pain, pre-operative and post-operative treatment and rehabilitation, as well as assisting in managing chronic illnesses such as arthritis.
Assess
Each one of us is unique in the way we look, move, and behave. My shoulder pain is therefore unique and different from your shoulder pain and so a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach does not work in the world of Physiotherapy and Movement Health. At my practice you will undergo a thorough and detailed assessment tailored to you, your condition, and your goals.
Restore
Usually when patients come to see me, they have lost part / some of their ability to move as well as they would like to. My role therefore is to figure out why this is so, and to work out a plan to restore this lost movement pattern. This could be done through manual therapy techniques such as soft tissue work, joint mobilisations etc. as well as through guided, active movement.
Perform
Once we have restored your movement, I then look to assist you in improving your performance, be it getting in and out of your vehicle more easily, being able to carry your ever-growing grandchild, or whether you might be needing to improve your performance on the sports field. I, as your Physiotherapist will meet you where you are at and guide you to where you want to be.
Physiotherapy Services Offered
What to expect:
During your assessment ,I’ll invite you to tell me your story. I will want to find out a few more details about your injury or complaint. I will then do a full physical assessment. This may require me to ask you to put on some comfortable shorts (and a strappy top for my female clients) so that I am able to see how your body moves. I’ll have some available but please feel free to bring your own if you prefer.
After your initial assessment, I’ll discuss my findings with you in as much or as little detail as you would like. I will then suggest a management plan which may include some hands-on treatment as well as some movement therapy that might require a bit of effort from your side! I’ll be there to guide and assist you along the way!
Expectations are set out together with you at this first session so that you and I both know what your end goal is and have a plan on how to get there. Treatment frequency will also be discussed.
Your initial assessment will be roughly 1 hour in duration with follow up sessions being between 30 - 45 minutes.
I like to make use of videos when prescribing your rehabilitation. I like to take a video of your exercises during your treatment session, as a personalised reference and a resource for your convenience. The easiest, and most secure, way of doing this is via WhatsApp to your phone only. If you do not feel comfortable with this arrangement, please discuss this with me.
